How to play
Times Table Twins is a times tables race. The TV shows the questions, and every player answers on their own tablet or phone. It takes about a minute to set up.
What you need
- 📺A TV or big screen with a web browser. A smart TV browser, or a laptop plugged into the TV or casting to it.
- 📱A tablet or phone for each player, up to 10 players.
- 📶An internet connection on every device. They don't need to be on the same Wi-Fi.
Setting up a game

Open the game on the TV
On the TV, go to twins-times-tables.web.app/tv and press Let's play! A big 4-letter code and a QR code appear.

Join on each tablet
Scan the QR code with the tablet's camera, or go to twins-times-tables.web.app/play and tap in the code.

Pick a name and a buddy
Type a name (a nickname is fine) and choose an animal. Each player gets a different one, and it floats on the TV for the whole game.

Choose the times tables
Tap one table to practise it, or tap several to mix them. 🎲 Mix all picks 2 to 12. Everyone shares the same choice, so when one player changes it, everyone sees it.

Get ready and race!
Tap I'm ready! When there are 2 or more players and everyone is ready, the game starts after a 5-second countdown. Playing alone? Press Start game on the TV.
Playing

Everyone gets the same question at the same time, so it's a proper race. Tap an answer on your tablet to lock it in. You can't change it after that!
Scoring
- ✅ Right answer: 1 point
- ❌ Wrong answer or too slow: 0 points
- ⚡ The quickest right answer gets a Fastest! badge. It's just for fun, not extra points.
- 🏆 The most points wins. If there's a tie, the player with the lowest total answer time wins.
Reading the TV screen
Players float down both sides of the TV with the question in the middle. The badges on each animal show:

Nothing happens when I press Let's play! on the TV
Some older smart TV browsers can't run the game. A message at the bottom of the screen will say so. Plug a laptop into the TV, cast a Chrome tab to it, or use a streaming stick that has a modern browser.
Someone dropped out of the game
Tablets check in with the TV every few seconds. If a tablet loses its connection, its animal goes grey with 📶 Reconnecting…. After about 35 seconds it's dropped, and everyone else carries on. On the tablet, tap Join again to jump back in for the next game.
Locking the tablet or switching to another app counts as losing connection, so keep the game on screen while playing.
How do I leave a game?
Tap 🚪 Leave game in the bottom corner of the tablet, then tap again to confirm. From the TV, you can remove a player in the lobby by selecting the ✕ on their animal.
I refreshed the TV by accident
Press Let's play! again. If it's within 15 minutes, the TV keeps the same code, so the tablets reconnect by themselves. Everyone just taps I'm ready! again.
Can we add it to the tablet's home screen?
Yes! Open /play, then on an iPad tap Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android, tap ⋮ → Add to Home screen. The next time, the tablet remembers your name, buddy and times tables.
What information does the game store?
Only what the game needs while you play: the name (or nickname) you type, your buddy, the chosen tables, answers and scores. There are no accounts, and no ads. When the TV starts a new game, it clears its old room.
